Healthy Steps programmes Healthy Steps courses are held at the Auckland Cancer Society throughout the year. Please contact Michele for more information. What is Healthy Steps? Healthy Steps is an exercise/dance class medically designed by two gynaecologists for patients with Lymphoedema. Studies have shown that patients with arm and breast Lymphoedema and those with leg / genital or abdominal Lymphoedema receive significant reduction in swelling. Each and every exercise has been created to increase the lymphatic transport of lymph fluid. The classes are for one hour duration with three water breaks, the music is uplifting and participants use `props` such as balls, hats, walking canes, hip scarves, feather boas etc. There is plenty of fun, laughter, and a sense of doing something positive for Lymphoedema. Participants say that they feel uplifted and less depressed. To learn more about the Lebed method, visit the international Healthy Steps website or view the short video on YouTube of one of Michele's classes at the Auckland Cancer Society. Back to top>>> |
